People flock from all over America to move to San Diego, citing the warm weather and beautiful scenery as their primary reasoning. But it is not all sun and fun. 1. Great Place For The Outdoorsy
If you enjoy outdoor adventure, San Diego has no shortage of fun activities. Surfers can head to the wide variety of beaches. Golf aficionados have their pick of the litter, as San Diego is home to some of the nation’s finest courses. For the younger crowd, San Diego also has some of the best skateboard parks and is the hometown of skate hero Tony Hawk.
2. Professional Sports Teams
Sports lovers are in heaven when they arrive in San Diego. The Chargers are a consistent NFL contender and always in the playoff mix. The San Diego Padres have struggled in recent seasons, but are coming off an offseason in which they broke the bank to try and build a contender. The summer X games are also held here.
3. Special Events
San Diego is known for its beaches, but there are several special events to enjoy. During the holiday season, there are boat parades on Mission Bay to attend. Balboa Park is home to the annual December Nights celebration, where most museums open their doors to the public free of charge.

1. June Gloom/May Gray
Since San Diego is located on the coast of southern California, it is subject to the May gray and/or June gloom that people have always heard about. For those who are not familiar with this phenomenon, this is when a very, very thick marine layer settles over the city and casts a pall over what is normally a bright, sunny town.
2. Mexico Is Not Easy Access
San Diego residents may believe that their proximity to Mexico will enable them to pop in and out of the country as they please. Unfortunately, this tends to around suspicion of Border Patrol. Even the most innocent citizens report experiencing harassment at the Mexican entrance. Traffic also tends to be a huge concern and can lead to hours wasted.
3. Beaches Are Deceptively Dangerous
Sure, San Diego has gorgeous beaches. But did you know that they also have one of the biggest undertows? The water looks peaceful, but if you are not careful, you could sucked underneath. Parents must keep a close eye on their children at all times when they are at the beach, or else they could risk losing them. Unless your child is a very strong swimmer, pay close attention to them.
